Theme: “Creating the Beautiful Tomorrow”
The theme emphasis is broader than in previous shows. Recognizing that beauty is not confined to
any specific form, any horticultural related art work is appropriate. Since this is a part of The
Virginia Flower & Garden Expo, works of art must reflect some aspect of horticulture. Works
depicting gardens, flowers, and landscapes are some examples of acceptable subjects. Entries will be
taken up to January 10th. However, the jury process will start December 26th. For questions
regarding the theme or subject, and for the complete calendar please call or e-mail: 757-426-1357

Call to Artists: Public Art Projects in Newport News, VA. The Newport News Public Art Foundation (NNPAF) is calling for artists to create monumental sculpture for public art projects in the city of Newport News, VA. The NNPAF requests that interested artists submit work to its Artist Registry www.nnpaf.org/artists/application.php, which will be used to select artists for consideration in future projects. The commission will be based on the scope, scale, and size of each project. Proposal submissions are open to professional sculptors experienced in producing outdoor work. The NNPAF prefers sculpture that is more classical and traditional within any given artistic style. The work can address any theme or subject matter, figurative or abstract, as long as it is appropriate for public viewing. To be added to the artist registry, applicants must submit a minimum of 10 slides, prints, or digital images of outdoor sculpture; letter of interest; resumé and references.  For specific sites under consideration, applicants must submit a minimum of 6 slides, prints, or digital images depicting the proposed work, 10 slides prints, or digital images of outdoor sculpture from other commissions, artwork description, an annotated support materials list, artist’s statement, letter of interest, resumé, references, preliminary budget, and a project timeline. For full information: www.nnpaf.org/artists/index.html Project proposals and submissions to the artists registry may be sent to the attention of Laurel Tsirimokos, Newport News Public Art Foundation, 735 Thimble Shoals Blvd, Suite 100, Newport News, VA, 23606.
